Next weekend is when the International Women's Day 2020 will be celebrated. International women's day is celebrated every year on the 8th of March in order to celebrate the achievements of women on their social, economical, political, and professional levels.
It was first organized in New York City on the 28th of February 1909, But Clara Zetkin proposed in the year 1910 International Socialist Woman's Conference that March 8th to honored annually in memory of working women. (Source. Wikipedia). Every year the day has been celebrated as International Women's Day or International Working Women's Day ever since. Now coming to the theme, many organizations declare a new theme every year in order to support the working women's achievements.
Brand Campaigns from the year 2019 for your reference. Bournvita and Max Fashions are my favourites.. The theme for 2019 was “Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change” (Put forth the innovations by women and girls.
The theme for this year is " I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women's Rights" The theme is decided based on the UN Women's Generation equality campaign which celebrates which marks the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
The hashtags used this year are, #EachForEqual, #IWD2020, #GenerationEquality. There is no country on the globe today that has a gender equality policy. The theme is not just saying "Women are equal to Men" the theme is to implement the same as to #GenderEqualBoardroom, #GenderEqualGovernment, #GenderEqualMediaCoverage, etc.
